Consisting of two beds within one single unit, one sitting on top of the other, bunk beds are excellent space savers. Traditional bunks have two single beds attached on top of each other but design has evolved over the years and we now stock triple tier bunks as well as bunks which feature a double at the bottom of the bunk and a single on top. All bunks are completed with a handy ladder to ensure easy and hassle free access to the top bunk.
It is required by law that bunk beds meet British Standard Specifications requirements (1 BS EN 747) to be accredited as safe. It is required that bunks should have fixed side rails on the top bunk and smooth edging free of any sharp edges. Mattresses which fit the top bunk should be a maximum of 15cm in depth to ensure the side rails act effectively and prevent youngsters falling over the rails.
Bunks are suitable for children aged four and above but safety guidelines advise that children below the age of six should use the bottom bunk only. For children younger than this we advise going for toddler beds or cots.
