How to Choose Your Bedroom Colour Scheme

Jubilee Bed

Leaving your cosy bed early in the morning is one of life’s less enjoyable tasks. But a bedroom that boosts your mood and kick-starts your day makes it that bit easier. Lighting and colours are proven to improve your mood, which is why there’s always a strong case to give your bedroom a splash of colour. Whatever theme you opt for, Amare Living are sure to have a colour and fabric combination to suit your individual taste as each of our designs are bespoke and made to order.

Blush Pink BedroomBlush pink

Interior designer Jonathan Berger described his vision when using blush pink to decorate this Brooklyn townhouse as “exuberantly feminine, yet resolutely chic”. Blush pink can create a dreamy, soft colour scheme to warm up the whites, and some simple changes can transform an otherwise bland room.

To complement the soft tones, add depth by choosing a shade from the same pink family with varying hues, such as a dark or light terracotta. Denim blues for the bedding can add texture to prevent the bedroom appearing to be too feminine.

Cream BedroomCream

Creams can sometimes be accused of being boring but we like to think of them as warm, dependable and versatile. A super light shade with bright colours will inject enough contrast into the room and bring memories of summer mornings walking along the beach. Adding a sprinkling of colour through pillows and throws will deliver a great finish.

Sage Green BedroomSage Green

Painting walls can be substituted with statement ceilings to draw the eye elsewhere and keep the room looking fresh. Sage green has become a popular choice in recent times, with its stylish and subtle demeanour oozes a serene and calming effect. For those of you who may be feeling a little tentative with bright themes, the transition to sage green is not too much of a change from classic whites. Plants act as a great accessory to add deep tones to natural spaces.

Deep Navy BedroomDeep Navy

Add deep blue shades! To then further punctuate, add depth with vibrant colours for your bedding and crisp white accents to create a beautiful looking bedroom. Playful patterns and deep blues are an interior design dream. Using navy blue and indigo tones as if they were neutrals will prove they can be combined with just about anything.

Accessorising with cushions in shades of navy blue and plush white will create a lovely coastal theme. As an alternative, white bed linen will allow you to have fun with textures and fabrics on your cushions and wallpaper. Don’t shy away from using deep tones on all four walls to create intensity and vibrant hues.

Sky Blue BedroomSky Blue

In contrast to navy blue, this blue makes a statement in different ways. Its consistency and understated beauty creates a strong personality and cohesion within the bedroom. Sky is another colour which can act as a neutral tone serving as the perfect base to inject other colours to create a charming abode.

White bedrooms ooze glamour and simplicity but can be difficult to perfect. In the absence of colour, it is easy to miss the mark, so making use of classic architecture or contemporary styling can energise the whole room.

Neutral bases allow you to have fun with mixing it up. Some options to consider include oversized lace-pattern wallpaper or supersized headboards to deliver that striking feel in the absence of colour. Varying the textures used within the bedroom can also be key to delivering a 3D effect.

Beige BedroomBeige

To add warmth to a bright bedroom without going for the usual feature wall, neutral colours like beige provide perfect harmony for blues, greys and whites with daring accents. In times gone by, beige was seen as bland and boring, but in the 2020’s, beige is at the forefront of bedroom design as it delivers on elegance and comfort.

Brown tones are known to subliminally connect the brain to the stability of nature, enabling us to feel safe and grounded. The key to perfecting beige is to pair it with stronger shades and daring accessories.

Soft Black BedroomSoft Black

We hear the cries from traditionalists, but yes, black bedrooms can be and are amazing. However, we advise airing on the side of caution by avoiding pure blacks and opting for a slightly softer touch, such as dark slate or off black. Black bedrooms are an ingenious solution for light starved rooms as you will be using the disadvantage dealt to you by nature to your advantage.

Dark rooms don’t necessarily have to be super dramatic, they can be toned down with soft neutral layers to give your bedroom a lift. Bright whites and lighter shades often spring to mind when opening spaces but there can be a case for going darker with your shades as they are known to amplify smaller space.
